Watten Ponds, A Lot at Stake

When It's Gone, It Will Never Come Back
It's not just trees.  This is a historic woods, a full ecosystem. It filters the water that flows to the lake, owls nest in the trees, frogs and bumblebees nest in the groundcover.  It's the home and kitchen for many animals that we see throughout the city.

The City CAN protect these woods, it's just decided not to.  That's where you come in.  Resident pressure is the only thing that can help.

This will be a long fight.

It's not just these trees.  This is about what Shorewood should be.  This is the most environmentally valuable and sensitive place in the city - original woods from before the American Revolution and 3 wetlands that flow into Lake Minnetonka.  If the City helps cut and develop this property, it'll allow any place to be developed.  Which is the vision at City Hall - a house squeezed into any green spot available.  Do we just want to be Eden Prairie with longer drives?  That's the direction unless we step up.

That Seems Like A Lot of Trees. Is It a Lot?
